US Mart, a retail store selling only made in the USA products, joined forces with the third largest American Legion post in the state of Florida for a Labor Day Celebration on Sept. 2, 2013.
The American Legion, NO-VEL Post 159 and The Sons of the American Legion hosted the event held at 1770 E. Venice Avenue, right across the parking lot from US Mart.
U.S. Congressman Vern Buchanan field agent Danny Bilyeu addressed the crowd with a Labor Day message, and Goodwill Manasota Veteran Program Manager Christopher Davis spoke about the Veterans and their Families Job Fair being held the following weekend.
Patrons who visited the American Legion on Labor Day were invited to walk over and shop for all-American novelty items at US Mart, and 20% of all proceeds that day were donated back to the American Legion. “When we opened this store earlier this year, it was with American pride and a tremendous passion for giving back to our service men and women,” said Molly Kraut, owner of US Mart in Venice. “We are grateful to have partnered with our parking lot neighbor, the American Legion, for a great Labor Day celebration,” said Kraut.
American Legion NO-VEL Post 159 has close to 3000 members and is the third largest post in Florida and the ninth largest post in the United States. Proceeds from US Mart’s Labor Day donation went to the American Legion Child Welfare Foundation.
